Department of Political Science
Political Science is one of the most important Subjects of Social Science. In the democratic age this subject assumes vital importance in view of public cooperation and activism. It deals with theory and practice of politics as well as the analysis of our political system, behavior and culture. All of us live within political system and we are affected by the changes in the global political economy.
In the modern age when women walks by rubbing shoulder with shoulder in all fields of life, Political Science has also become an important subject. Political Science is one of the subjects started with the establishment of this college. Political Science is mainly a theoretical Subject up to graduation level and therefore, lecture system is followed to teach the subject.
In 2008-09 the semester system was introduced. In the Govt. College in Which 6 semester were proposed for graduation level and two papers for each subject. From 2017-18 annual pattern of exam is again started and C.C.E. are replaced in quarterly and half yearly exams in September and December respectively. According to University time table exams are conducted in March & April with 1st and 2nd paper of every subject. In graduation level 1st year and 2nd year are yearly courses although 6th semester exam will held in June 2019 To promote students for job some job oriented projects are implemented in 6th SEM.
Political science is very popular among the students. Given the interest of students towards the subject post graduate course has been started in 2018. We have 30 seats in post graduate course and 30 students are already enrolled. In post graduate level 4 semester and 4 papers for every semester is proposed. For post graduate classes separate classrooms are allotted. Facility of departmental library is available in Political science department for our post graduate students. Subject books, text books and reference books are available in departmental library. Books are also issued to the students.
Political Science is mainly a theoretical Subject up to graduation level and therefore, lecture system is followed to teach the subject. After a Chapter is Completed long answer question based on that chapter is given to prepare notes. Shorts answer question and objective question are asked in the class so that the students are conducted in order to evaluate the student performance taught are written on the black board while teaching. The student are asked question the next day on topic taught the previous day. Model papers are arranged before examination.
According to student’s strength different classrooms are allotted for teaching political Science. There is also a facility of library so students can read in leisure time. Books are also issued to the students are motivated to discuss a specific are organized from time. Students are motivated to discuss a specific subject in groups and arrived at a solution after a thread bare discussion amongst them if they fail in their attempt, the Professor solves the issue in the class.
After graduation many student take up post graduate study also. They appear in competitive examination also. Now a day’s some of the students in addition to pursing their study after graduating, play a Positive role in practical politics also.
The Students who have passed out of this college help this institution by rendering their active cooperation in various activities connected with N.S.S. and student union.
Political science is one of the subjects started with establishment of this college. There is one post of professor and 02 post of Assistant professor. Dr. Suman Taneja is Head of the department and Dr. Neeta Mishra is working as a Guest Faculty.
Adequacy and competency of faculty
Political science is one of the subjects started with establishment of this college. There is one permanent faculty in the department and Dr. (smt.) Taneja is in charge of this department. The faculty is quite competent to teach various branches of this subject. This subject is very important. The subject is very popular among the students about 95% students adopt this subjects she always motivate the students to establish themselves to face competitive exam so that they become independent in the life. Always emphasize to gain knowledge of every sphere of knowledge and improve general knowledge.

Students of all classes have their representation in the department. Government Girls College Sehore is the single Girls College in the district that’s why girls students of surrounding villages of district used to take admission in the college. Mostly students belong to the rural area. Due to it they are very weak in English language. Some students are urban area they are fluently in English.

The department follows conversations, Question answer methods, arranges group discussions, objective type questions, survey methods etc. Sometimes computer and LCD Projector are also used in teaching/learning.
Academic and personal counseling of students.
At the time of admission process counseling held for the students. Firstly students have chance given by the faculty to attend the different subjects class for a few periods and select the optional subjects according to their interest and caliber. For the enhancement of academic standard of Girls Student, time –to –time through discussion, they are encourage for conversation on practical problems. Student used to enrich their knowledge through magazines of library.
